Liquid Fast – Day #1

Today Kate and I have started a liquid detox.

This is what we do to give our digestive system a break from processing solid food, to allow for a deep healing and detoxification.

You may not realise, but alot of our energy is drained purely by digesting solid food.

(We often lose critical deep sleep due to a big evening meal which leaves our digestive system working literally all night long with no rest)

And when we aren’t combining foods well, or are just flat out eating shit foods that aren’t good for us, it really takes it’s toll on our overall wellbeing. Not only physically, but mentally and emotionally too!

Today is just day #1, and we’re only getting started!

And right now is a great time to do a liquid fast, as it’s a busy time of year, and it’s also an unhealthy time of year with all the Christmas parties and end of year celebrating happening!

And I know one of the biggest objections to dieting is not having enough time, which is why this liquid detox is pure genius!

A liquid diet is quite simply, water, juices, smoothies, teas, coffee (if you’re a coffee drinker), and soups.

You can have as much or as little as you want, and it requires LESS time than eating food!

From past experience, we usually start off the first couple of days consuming more smoothies, juices and soups, then after a few days, our bodies adjust, and we require less and less food, all while our energy continues to soar to greater heights.

As well as this, we ALWAYS lose weight too which is an added bonus!

Note on limiting beliefs: You might be thinking, “I couldn’t do that”! – But you’re dead wrong!

ANYONE can do a liquid diet

ANYONE can fast

ANYONE can increase energy

ANYONE can heal themselves on a liquid detox

Whatever you tell yourself goes to work in your subconscious mind. So if you say you can’t do it, it becomes extremely challenging.

And if you say you CAN do it, you get it done.

And we’re not really interested in excuses are we? We just want to get a positive result that improves your health, energy, mental state, and overall life!

Isn’t that really what we want?

That’s why I do this. And I share this to inspire you.

It’s interesting that most illnesses stem from toxicity in the body, and recent research shows that detoxification is more critical than nutrition.

It’s like servicing your car. After a period of time your engine needs new oil.

But do you just regularly top up the oil? No, we need to first drain out the old, dirty oil first. Otherwise the clean oil will be swimming in the dirt and grime of the old oil.

Once all the oil has been flushed out, the mechanic puts in new, clean oil.

It’s no different with our bodies. We need a regular oil change so to speak.

And it’s done by fasting. Either on a liquid diet, or just on water alone for long enough to clear out all toxicity.

By fasting, we’re cleaning out our system. Similar to pulling the plug on the bottom of the engine to let all that old oil drain out.

Once that’s done, we can then bring in the good nutrition, and have a healthy, functional, energetic body and mind from there!

How do you know if you need a detox? 

Easy, everyone needs it. If you live in Sydney, or any other densely populated city, you’re being exposed to toxic fumes and mould in the air, and chemicals, chemicals everywhere!

Most things are made with toxic chemicals, including much of the food we eat!

Even if you have a relatively “healthy diet”, it’s still necessary to detoxify and cleanse your inner system.

We’re essentially swimming in our own toxicity, and this is why we eventually get sick. All that toxicity catches up with us!

It burdens our immune system, and leaves us prone to getting sick more often.

When you detox regularly, your immune system is sky high, and you never get sick. Not even with a common cold or flu. It just doesn’t happen!

(that’s right, we don’t need those nasty, prickly flu shots either)

As a “Longevity Enthusiast” I’m always researching, and identifying ways to extend my life, and it’s quality.

And in my opinion, detoxification is the number #1 strategy for this.

Some of the common benefits of fasting are;

Reduction in joint pain from inflammation and arthritis

Weight loss

Ability to think clearer and faster

Reduction in anxiety and stress in the mind

Elimination of digestive issues

Deeper more rejuvenating sleep

Extreme increases in energy

… it’s really a miracle. So simple, and so effective.

How To Get Started On A Detox!

The best way is to start slow. There’s no benefit in diving head first into unknown waters!

Would you dive into a river without first identifying how deep it is, if there are any rocks or sharp edges on the bottom, or any sharks swimming around?

Probably not, and it’s the same when approaching a detox.

So a great start is to fast for the mornings only! Instead of your regular cereal, or toast, or banana bread, or whatever you’d normally eat, switch it for 1 litre of water with lemon, followed by a green vegetable juice, or a smoothie… Or, just stick to water alone!

Once you’ve mastered your emotional state during a morning fast, you can start to explore further by extending it out to the afternoon, then evening, then going a complete day of fasting. Then multiple days of consecutive fasting!

It’s not easy. (nothing worthwhile is).

But it’s way easier than NEVER doing a detox, to find out in 10, 15, 20, or 30 years that you’ve got all sorts of health issues to deal with! THAT’S not easy! (or worthwhile).

Note on hard work: Think about 3 things that you’re extremely proud of in your life… It might be your Uni degree, your career, your investments, your children, your relationship, or your health! Was any of it easy??
