22 Aug 9 Tips To Improve Your Next Workout
All workouts are NOT created equal!
Some are a complete waste of time, and others extremely effective.
Here’s 9 tips on how to make the most of your next workout.
Tip #1: Have a Plan.
The last thing you want to do when you rock up to your workout, is be unprepared. This will lead to you being lazy in your workout, and not pushing yourself as much as you would if following a structured workout plan.
Tip #2: Set a Time.
Commit to a specific amount of time that you’re going to workout for. And make sure you workout for that time. If you don’t have a time set, you’re likely to leave early and not get a full workout.
Tip #3: Work Your Whole Body.
Following a whole body workout plan is the best type of workout. This way, if you’re only exercising 2 or 3 times per week, your entire body is being worked more than once per week which is necessary.
Tip #4: Only Do Compound Exercises.
These are the exercises that work the bigger muscle groups in your body. This will give you the best workout, burn the most calories, and get you the fastest results.
A compound exercise is one that uses multiple joints. e.g. Squats uses the hip joint, knee joint, and ankle joints. Other examples are bench press, chin ups, dead lifts, overhead press etc.
Tip #5: Avoid Isolation exercises.
These are the opposite of compound exercises. They only use 1 joint. e.g. bicep curls only uses the elbow joint. I prefer to avoid these exercises as they don’t work you body as hard from a calorie burn perspective, and they don’t get your heart rate up as high as the other compound exercises.
Tip #6: Slow Down, Get Your Form Correct.
When you move through movements too fast, and don’t have good movement form, 2 things happen. You don’t get a good enough workout, and your increase your risk for injury. When you slow down each movement, you engage more muscle fibres into your workout, and get better results.
Tip #7: Be Consistent.
There’s no point working out once or twice a month. You don’t build enough momentum to get a positive result.
Regular exercise is essential. To see a positive result, you will need to invest at least 6 weeks to even begin to see and notice a difference.
Most people don’t achieve fitness success because they aren’t prepared to put in the consistent effort. But it pays off.
Tip #8: Don’t Compromise Your Workouts
If something unexpected comes up that takes you away from your regular workout, make it up somewhere else. Otherwise, don’t ever cancel a workout. Just choose a convenient time, and get it done no matter what!
Tip #9: Get A Custom Workout Plan
If all of the above 8 tips sound great, but if you don’t know where to begin, I have created a questionnaire that you can fill out, and I’ll write you a custom workout plan based on the info you provide me. It’s Free for a limited time only.
